🐶 “Best bed we’ve ever bought”

We’ve gone through a few dog beds over the years, but this one’s on another level. Our border collie, Archie, jumped straight on it and didn’t move for hours. It’s super sturdy but still soft, and I love that it’s made from recycled materials. Bonus points for being NZ-made too feels good to support local

🐾 “Looks good and he actually uses it”

Our golden retriever usually ends up on the couch, but since getting this bed she’s actually sleeping on it every night. It doesn’t go flat like the cheap ones, and it’s easy to unzip the cover and chuck it in the wash. Also doesn’t look ugly in the lounge, which is a win.

🛏️ “Comfy, eco, and built to last”

Really impressed with this dog bed. Our lab took to it straight away. It’s super comfy and supportive. The materials feel high quality. We’ve had it for a few months now and it’s held its shape really well, even after multiple washes. Great value for something so durable and sustainable.

“Perfect for picky pups”

“Our Frenchie, Louie, is super fussy and usually ends up on the couch (or our bed). But since we got him the Wool.Life bed, he actually chooses it. It’s cosy, firm enough to support him properly, and doesn’t overheat like some of the fluffy ones. Plus, it looks great in our space.”

About NZ Wool and its Properties

What makes New Zealand wool a sustainable resource?

New Zealand wool is sustainable because it is grown annually from sheep, requires no synthetic inputs, and is fully biodegradable. The country’s high farming standards also ensure low-impact, regenerative production.

Is NZ wool an eco-friendly and non-toxic material?

Yes, NZ wool is naturally eco-friendly and safe. It contains no harmful chemicals, breaks down harmlessly in soil, and is non-toxic for people, pets, and the environment.

How is wool produced in New Zealand?

Wool is produced by shearing sheep, a humane process that occurs once or twice a year. The fibre is then cleaned, scoured, and processed locally under strict environmental and animal welfare standards.

What are the environmental benefits of wool?

Wool is renewable, biodegradable, and helps reduce plastic use. It also sequesters carbon, enriches soil when it breaks down, and supports natural farming systems in New Zealand.

Is wool a natural insulator?

Yes, wool insulates by trapping tiny pockets of air within its fibres. This keeps heat in during cold weather and helps regulate temperature in warmer conditions.

Does wool improve indoor air quality?

Wool can absorb and lock away indoor pollutants like formaldehyde, nitrogen dioxide, and sulphur dioxide. This natural filtering ability helps improve the air you breathe inside your home.

How does wool affect temperature and moisture regulation in a home?

Wool naturally absorbs and releases moisture while maintaining thermal stability. This means it reduces humidity, balances room temperature, and keeps homes more comfortable year-round.

General Industry & Competitor-Related Questions

What's the future of the NZ wool industry?

The future of New Zealand wool lies in innovation and sustainability. While traditional markets like carpets have declined, demand is growing for eco-friendly products such as insulation, garden solutions, and natural bedding. Wool is increasingly positioned as a renewable alternative to plastics and synthetics.

How does NZ wool compare to other materials like jute or coconut fibre?

NZ wool offers superior insulation, moisture regulation, and biodegradability compared to jute or coconut fibre. While those fibres are strong and useful in mats or ropes, wool is softer, naturally fire-resistant, and more versatile across lifestyle, home, and garden products.

What are the challenges facing strong NZ wool?

Strong NZ wool faces challenges from synthetic fibres that are cheaper and more widely used. Global market fluctuations, competition from imported fibres, and the need to re-educate consumers about wool’s environmental benefits are also ongoing issues.

Where else is NZ wool used (e.g., in carpets, insulation, clothing)?

Beyond lifestyle products, NZ wool is widely used in carpets, upholstery, fashion apparel, blankets, thermal insulation, acoustic panels, and even new technologies like compostable packaging and medical textiles.
