We make Wool Mulch & Weed Mat Rolls from 100% New Zealand wool. This creates a completely natural, renewable product, which is safe to install, safe to live with and safe for the environment.

Convenient & Easy to Use

Wool Mulch & Weed Mat Rolls are simple to use, providing all the advantages of a layer of mulch, while also eliminating weed growth. Our mats are flexible, protect against erosion, and are available in sizes to suit every project.

Promotes Plant Growth

New Zealand wool is full of essential nutrients that promote plant growth, including nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Wool Mulch & Weed Mat Rolls slowly break down over time, releasing nutrients into the soil and acting as a fertiliser.

Water & Temperature Regulating

Wool stores up to 33% of its weight in water, and slowly releases water once the surrounding environment drops below 65% relative humidity. This means our mats act as a water buffer, keeping plants at the right moisture level. As wool absorbs water, it releases a small amount of heat, helping to regulate the soil temperature and provide ideal growing conditions.

Fully Biodegradable

Wool Mulch & Weed Mat Rolls are strong enough to do the job without any need for synthetic glues or strengthening materials. Once your wool mat has biodegraded, the only thing left behind is healthy plants and enriched soil. Naturally Pest Resistant

Wool might feel soft to the touch, but each fibre is covered in fine scales and tiny barbs making it highly unappealing to slugs and snails, which will go out of their way to avoid it. The natural composition and density of our mats also mean that birds can’t lift, move, or scrape them away from your garden beds, keeping plants fully protected.

How to use your Wool.Life products

Step one:

Clear the area you plan to plant in by removing any existing weeds.

Step two: (optional, rolls only)

If you are using one of our Mulch & Weed Rolls cut your roll to size using sharp scissors or a knife. Then cut a hole where you would like your plant positioned.

Step three:

If you are using a roll place your plants inside the cut holes. If you are using one of our Mulch & Weed Mats position the slit around the stem of the planting, then secure the mats or rolls with pegs.

Step four:

Water your plants and watch them grow confident that your Mulch and weed matting will provide pest resistance, frost protection, moisture retention and suppress weeds from growing and will mulch down to provide valuable nutrients for plant growth.
